Broadcast and Cable Division

The Broadcast and Cable Division of FOUNDATION TELECOMMUNICATIONS,INC. (FTI) is working hard to assist broadcasters, programmers, and cable networks move toward the future with conversions from analog to digital technology. The competitive environment of the broadcast and cable industries today are demanding the cost effectiveness and the high signal quality and reliability that digital equipment is now providing. With increasing costs associated with full-time and occasional analog space segment combined with its limited availability and efficiency, the time has come when converting to digital is the most viable option in creating and maintaining successful programming services and broadcast networks.

Today’s digital transmission offers broadcast and cable networks of all sizes the ability to maximize their flexibility and competitiveness by providing:

  • Broadcast quality video signals utilizing small slices of bandwidth, leaving large amounts of bandwidth that can be resold, thereby, producing new profit centers with existing assets.

  • Multiple network feeds (up to five separate signals) to satisfy and attract both Eastern and Pacific time zone affiliates

  • Increased scheduling alternatives and programming opportunities that benefit domestic and international affiliates as well as local and national advertisers

  • Network Control Software which permits specialized regional or national distribution of syndication programs, spot/commercial or live feeds

  • Intra-network communication capabilities

  • Enhancements to satellite news gathering services

FTI has worked with scores of nationally recognized, established programming services and broadcast networks in converting to the digital spectrum. We have also assisted many start-up networks who are initiating their services using digital technology. This initial investment in digital equipment will save them the expense of conversion to digital at a later time when analog space segment is so limited that affordability is no longer possible to anyone but the giants in the industry.

"FTI's list of Broadcast and Cable clients includes among others, the Satellite Communications for Learning Association (SCOLA).  A non-profit educational satellite network transmitting authentic foreign language programming from over 40 countries. SCOLA digitally retransmits three channels of news, variety, and a complete China channel via satellite.  SCOLA programs are used by schools, cable companies, and businesses across the United States and Canada mainly as a comprehensive tool for language/cultural study."

Once one has the digital equipment in place, one can also look to FTI for providing the needed digital space segment from its inventory of C and Ku-band transponders. With the relationships we have built over the years, FTI has space segment capabilities that can service all parts of the world. Because of our volume purchases and vendor partnerships, FTI is able to provide the right space segment capacity at highly competitive rates.

Whatever the needs of a broadcast or cable entity, FTI is available to bring them the best in digital technology. At FTI, we can assess your needs and recommend a solution and time table that is customized or tailored to fulfill all specific aspects of a project. We can then install, implement, and train personnel from beginning to end. We will walk with a client through each step of the process, or simply deliver the goods. We welcome the opportunity to discuss any situation or project and how we might work together to establish a successful relationship and a healthier, more efficient programming service or broadcast network, poised for the next millennium.
