Five Ways to Directly Profit from your “Free-to-camper’ Internet Offering
You
really need to consider your “free to the camper” Internet services an
investment, and take the time to learn how to gain a return on that investment.
Foundation Telecommunications Inc. can help. Here are a few suggestions.
-
High Speed Internet has ‘value” when you can manage bandwidth.
-
Use the service as an
online advertising forum
-
Use your
High Speed Internet System to layer new services.
-
Install an Internet
Kiosk in the main office.
-
Extend your wireless network to reach surrounding businesses.
Many RV Parks have been driven to offer Internet access for free to campers.
Understanding that they can not directly profit from a free-to-camper Internet
offering many parks have chosen to install “do-it-yourself” Internet at the
lowest possible cost. making for unreliable, slow and un-secure connections.
To top it all off, most RV parks do not have the resources or the knowledge to
provide support to the campers when they experience connectivity problems which
causes frustration and lost time for guests and staff.
So while you are trying to do your guests a favor by providing Internet “free”,
you may actually be losing guests and revenue to poor service, slow connection
and anemic internet speeds. Read any RV Blog on the Internet today.
The campers are rating the Internet experience as good or bad and by doing so
they may be disqualifying your park as a destination point.
Here are five ways you can dramatically profit from your (free) high speed
internet offering.
High Speed Internet has “VALUE” when you can manage your bandwidth.
With a high speed Internet system that supports bandwidth management, you will
be able to offer campers a base service for free, and charge a premium to
upgrade to a higher speed. This still allows you to advertise “Free Wi-Fi”
while insuring that guests that want higher speeds can have them by paying a
little more. Normal e-mail and web surfers will be happy, and appreciate
the free service. Business users, Gamers, and people who like to send
pictures and large files won’t mind paying a little more so they can get back to
the real reason they love to RV.
Use the
service as an online advertising forum.
On line advertising is on the rise. Do you have special services (hunting and
fishing guides, bike rentals, custom cabins, hot tubs, etc.) that you want to
tell all your campers about? Do you have local restaurants, entertainment
sites, medical service providers and RV repair businesses around you? They
would be happy to pay you for an advertisement on your Pay-Per-Use And RV park
web site. It allows them to reach their potential customers and at the
same time puts money in your pocket. Again, informing and helping the
camper more than your competitor down the road.
Use
your High Speed Internet System to layer new services.
By investing in a high speed Internet management solution that will accommodate
the layering of new services you can plan for and profit from upcoming
technologies. VOIP is a much less expensive alternative to regular phones and
even cell phones. How would you like to advertise “Free Telephone Service to
every camp site and slot” right next to the “Free Wi-Fi” service on your web
site and in your advertising? Your wireless network will support this and
more. The new I-Phone has truly revolutionized the hand held wireless
market. Can you imagine how many more wireless computers, hand held
devices, cell phones, GPS tools, games and other products will be coming out?
They are even talking about putting Radio Frequency and GPS chips in pets for
tracking and safety. Does the RV Park down the road offer all this?
Install an
Internet Kiosk in the main office.
Many campers do not bring laptops or computers with them but need to check in at
the office, check e-mail, print directions or make reservations down the road.
The Kiosk could be run on a Pay-Per-Use basis rather than a free basis in order
to recover the investment in the computer and space. You may even want to
put one of your older computers at the Kiosk and buy a new updated one for the
office. The demands for processor and storage will be much less at the
Kiosk. Campers will be happier, there will be fewer requests to “borrow”
the office computer or have you do the work for them and it could be an
excellent gathering spot for the new generation “Y’ campers to socialize and
teach each other the wonders of networking, socializing and computer and
internet “tricks and short cuts”. This will free you and your staff to
complete other requirements at the park while providing an additional revenue
stream.
Extend your wireless network to reach surrounding businesses and
residences.
Are there businesses close to your RV Park? Are there residential sites
close to your RV Park? Do you have a restaurant or repair center that is
open all year? Why not offer Pay-Per-Use Service to travelers and local
people who may not have access to the same High Speed connection you have?
You could bring the digital age to rural America and make money even in the off
season. The High Speed Internet from FTI is always there and ready to
provide service and since it is Pay-Per-Use we will send you up to 50% of the
revenue collected. We take care of billing, set up, take down and provide
a detailed usage list of services billed.
I would prefer that you sign up for the full FTI Internet Package but even if
you already have internet access via DSL, T1 or local wireless company,
Foundation Telecommunications can still help you delight your guests, make life
a little easier for you and your staff and make you a little money while doing
it.
